Abstract: Objective To investigate the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characteristics and pathological features of hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (HEHE).Methods MRI characteristics and clinical data of 8 patients with pathologically diagnosed HEHE from March 2012 to May 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent MRI scan. MRI performance and the related pathology were analyzed by 2 senior physicians. Results All 8 HEHE cases manifested as multiple intrahepatic lesions, including 3 cases with lung metastasis and 1 case with both lung and vertebral metastasis. MRI revealed that intrahepatic lesions were hypointense on T1 weighted imaging but hyperintense on T2 weighted imaging. In dynamic contrast-enhancement, lesions showed progressive or ring enhancements. Signs of hepatic capsular traction and lollipop were also observed. Conclusion HEHE has some special MRI characteristics, which is still further confirmed by the pathology.
